In order to honour outstanding European researchers and clinicians who have contributed significantly to:
1. the improvement of diagnostic and clinical services for allergic patients
2. the development of innovative therapeutic strategies for the control of allergic diseases
3. the understanding of the pathophysiology of allergic disease
4. the strengthening of allergy as a specialty or the awareness of allergic diseases in Europe
Four Medals will be awarded annually by EAACI during the annual congress:
1. Clemens von Pirquet Medal for outstanding contributions in clinical research
2. Daniel Bovet Medal for improving treatment and prevention of allergic diseases
3. Paul Ehrlich Medal for experimental research in allergy/clinical immunology
4. Charles Blackley Medal for the promotion of allergy at the specialty in Europe
Awardees: Researchers and physicians to be awarded should be outstanding personalities with a strong and long lasting record of contributions. The award should be given for lifetime achievements. The awardees should have spent their professional career primarily in European institutions.
Nominations for the proposed candidates for each award can be made by any member of EAACI.
Nominations should be sent to the President of EAACI.
The Board of Officers will review and discuss the nominations by telephone.
The nominations will be presented to the Executive Committee of EAACI and voted on, at the spring Executive Committee Meeting.
Successful candidates will be informed and invited to attend an award ceremony which will take place at the annual congress.
