I studied Medicine in Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar, Porto. In 2008 I started my training in the specialty of Immunoallergology and my current position is as resident in Serviço de Imunoalergologia, Centro Hospitalar São João EPE. I also voluntarily teach Clinical Immunology at Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade do Porto.

I became member of EAACI in 2008 and ever since I have actively joined EAACI congresses, also participating in JMAs poster session; I as well took part in some Allergy Schools.

I have published some papers (2 book chapters, 7 full-text and 19 as abstract), presented some communications at scientific meetings and received some awards:

§ Best poster presentation: “Anti-phospholipid syndrome features and the occurrence of allergic diseases” presented at Poster session of Autoimmunity in Annual Meeting of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, June 2009, Warsaw, Poland

§ SPAIC/GSK Fellowship 1st prize ex-aequo for the project “COMPArE Study – Dust mites monosensitization in different countries: same clinical meaning?”

§ Best poster presentation: “Anaphylaxis to sunflower seeds” presented at Poster Session of Food Allergy in 2nd International Congress of Southern European Allergy Societies, April 2011, Estoril, Portugal

§ EAACI Research Fellowship award 2011

In the last years I have been interested in the field of Allergy, Asthma and Sports, working close with our Hospital group. I have recently started to develop some studies in this area, some of which were presented at EAACI Congress at Istanbul. My PhD thesis will focus respiratory and immune changes induced by competitive swimming.  

I would be very proud to contribute with my work, enthusiasm and vitality to develop and improve the specific area of Allergy, Asthma and Sports within the Academy.
