The
EAACI JMA Working Group is delighted to launch the first
JMA Mentorship Program (MP).
The
aims of the JMA MP is to promote the objectives of our field, targeting commitment to ongoing education for young scientists and enhancing JMA capacities as professionals.
Description of the JMA MP: The MP is expected to improve knowledge transfer of experienced professionals to juniors, increase JMAs' appreciation of and orientation in the field, promote opportunities for JMAs to work closely with a faculty mentor also for developing a paper for presentation at an academic conference and/or for publication.
Mentees may select their mentor from a list of available mentors online. Both meet in the context of EAACI Annual Meetings, Focused Meetings or Allergy Schools, while JMAs are responsible for applying for funding to cover attendance at Congresses or other expenses related to a meeting or further collaboration with their mentors. Communication will initially be established online, and mentors are encouraged to promote temporary assignments for JMAs at their workplaces. The latter may be achieved through EAACI Clinical and Research Fellowships or alternative funding.

• a short CV including list of publications
• a letter of motivation (250 words) including description of the scientific field of interest (essential to specify basic science versus clinical orientation) as well as a mention of the EAACI Section and Interest Group(s) an applicant belongs to
• name of selected mentor; please choose one among the following valued mentors:

Duration of JMA MP: 1-2 years
The
deadline for submission of applications is
22 May, 2011 and requested files should be sent to
info@eaaci.org.
Notification of mentees: The EAACI JMA Working Group will contact successful applicants by the end of May with details about the first meeting scheduled for mentors and mentees during EAACI Istanbul 2011.
Final Reports: At the end of the JMA MP the mentee has to compose a report on the interactions and activities developed with his/her mentors including suggestions for future JMA MPs.
