on level 3 during the Congress! We will be
happy to hear your comments and assist
you in any way we can. This year, as in
previous years, we are allocating some
seating space to our members so that they
can meet and exchange ideas. We will also
have an Internet Café for the use of our
members only. Come and meet the Junior
Member Representative at the “JMA
Meeting Point” in the EAACI stand.
Samples of EAACI publications will be on
display for your perusal and information on
our future meetings. If you have
membership questions that need to be
answered or simply just want to settle your

Executive Office. New members are

and receive their membership pin showing

Remember that after the Congress you can
always visit our web site www.eaaci.org and

EAACI NATIONAL SOCIETY VILLAGE
Last year EAACI hosted for the first time a
National Society Village and it was greatly
appreciated. Our National Societies did a
great job of promoting their societies and
meetings. This year we hope to have an even
better turnout. EAACI believes that the
National Societies will make an important
contribution to the climate of scientific
exchange as well as to the overall positive
experience for the attendees at our Annual
Congress. Take the time to visit the Village
and meet your colleagues from across
Europe. The Village is located on level 3 of
the Congress Centre.
EAACI TRAVEL GRANTS
EAACI and the Local Organising
Committee have granted 100 travel grants
to EAACI Junior Members and Affiliate
Junior Members with an accepted abstract.
This year we are introducing a new system
for the EAACI travel grants. This has been
developed based on the request from many
JMAs to have a common “JMA hotel” which
could facilitate social contacts and the use of
common transports. Those who are
awarded a travel grant receive free
registration to the Congress, up to EUR 500
for travel costs and part of a double room at
the Hotel Ibis Porte de Clichy. This is a very
nice middle class hotel with a swimming
pool, located in Porte de Clichy and easily
reached from the Congress Centre by
Metro. Travel grant recipients who do not
wish to stay at this hotel will receive free
registration and up to 500 Euro for travel
expenses. This money can be collected on
site at the Congress after showing your
ticket and receipts.
Please visit the “Cashier/Travel Grant” desk
in the registration area from Sunday, 8 June.

JMA ACTIVITIES

we have this year arranged a special hotel
reserved for JMAs, the Hotel Ibis Porte de
Clichy. This will allow JMAs to meet more
easily and to arrange social activities as well
as facilitating common transports.
The JMA Poster Session is now becoming a
tradition and is held on the first night of the
Congress, on June 7, between 18.30 and
20.30 in parallel with the Welcome Cocktail,
in Salle Passy at level 1 in the Palais des
Congrès. This session is aimed to promote
the work of the EAACI-JMAs in an
informal atmosphere where contacts with
senior experts as well as fellow JMAs are
supported. Poster prizes sponsored by
Pharmacia Diagnostics will be awarded for
outstanding poster presentations.
The JMA Forum (MS 3) is this year entitled
“Molecular Control Mechanisms in Allergic
Diseases” and contains the latest data
presented by Junior and Senior scientists.
We will also introduce a JMA Educational
session on “How to write a scientific paper”
and “How to write a grant application”,
where experienced speakers will discuss
these processes and where extensive time is
allocated to questions and discussions. In
this session we have also invited a
representative from the European Union
who will present the Marie Curie grant
programme. This session will be held on
Sunday 8 June, 15.30-17.15 in room 342B.
The JMA Business meeting, where topics of
particular importance for JMAs will be
discussed and current activities reported, is
held right after the Educational session, at
17.30 in room 342B.
Finally, we will have a JMA-corner situated
in the EAACI official stand. Here you can
meet the JMA working group members as
well as other JMAs, get information about
