EAACI/GA2LEN Allergy School
Allergic Reactions to Drugs: from Bench to Bedside
21 – 23 September 2011
Peschiera del Garda (Verona), IT
REGISTRATION CLOSED!
Organisers: EAACI Drug Allergy Interest Group

Shaped by the last Ice Age, lake Garda has always fascinated its visitors, starting with its first enthusiast Wolfgang Goethe. Lake Benacus (as it was called by the Romans and celebrated by one of their most illustrious poets, Catullus) is the biggest and most typical of the pre-alpine lakes. Its particular shade of sky-blue colour and diverse landscape with its surroundings has made it unforgettable. The southern part of the lake, where Garda is placed, is embraced by the gentle slopes of the Riviera of Olives, looks decidedly Mediterranean, however, just few km north, where Monte Baldo rises above it, the landscape changes its character and turns into a narrow fjord. The city of Verona is about 30 km away from the lake Garda. Recently awarded the status of a “World Heritage Site”, Verona has delighted painters, poets, travellers and celebrities for centuries. Verona is a work of art itself: a fascinating cross-roads of historical periods and cultures, a blend of both Nordic and Mediterranean influences, the city is at the same time both ancient and modern.
Scientific ProgrammeThis Allergy School will be focused on specific aspects dealing with adverse drug reaction (ADR), including basic and applied clinical research.
In three days of active discussions, practical sessions and scientific information exchange, participants and faculty members from different countries will perform and optimise diagnosis and therapy of drug hypersensitivity. There will be several fascinating sessions performed by well-known experts in this field. The programme includes:
• understanding the immunological basis of allergic reaction to drugs and their implication in the diagnosis
• discussing specific problems in drug groups e.g. NSAID, betalactam AB, chemotherapeutics, radio contrast media etc.
• interacting with speakers who are also authors of paper of these topics
All sessions will be held in English.
